10+ Highly Anticipated Anime of 2024

Turning the classical sentai aspect over its head comes Go! Go! Loser Ranger!. On the surface, it always seems like the heroes are beating the villains and keeping the peace. But beneath that, any society can be rotten and corrupted to the core. And in this story, we’ll see how that will unfold. I’m personally looking forward to this.

In Earth’s history, the Nefarious Monster Army’s invasion was halted by the Dragon Keepers within just a year. Since that time, weekly public humiliations have been endured by the defeated monsters. To alter this fate, the Ranger Force was infiltrated by a monster named D. Assisted by Ranger Yumeko Suzukiri, an invaluable divine artifact—the sole weapon capable of ending the monsters’ immortal lives—was seized by D. Tragically, an encounter with the Dragon Keepers resulted in D’s downfall. Now, the question arises: who will stand against them?

Ordinary high schooler Ken Usato yearns for adventure, which he finds when transported to another world with school council members Kazuki Ryuusen and Suzune Inukami. Mistaken as heroes to fend off a Demon Lord’s army invasion, Usato realizes he was summoned by accident and lacks hero status unlike his peers. Yet, he discovers a rare talent for healing magic. Rose, the stern captain of the kingdom’s Rescue Team, takes Usato under her wing for intensive training. Determined to safeguard his friends, Usato commits to mastering his newfound abilities.

Pretty awesome show that get its point across without all the isekai BS. It has great characters, action scenes, world building, and overall awesome plot. I have been anticipating this as well months ahead and love everything about it after watching and can’t wait to get back to it.

Another show I’m personally looking forward to and it’s from the Shounen Jump manga.

Despite their rejuvenated bodies, their love remains unchanged. “Jiisan Baasan Wakagaeru” follows this youthful elderly couple as they navigate daily life, bond with family, and challenge the norms of youth.

It’s an intimate story that shows the value of a good marriage and the married life isn’t always dark & gloomy. Things always work out, whatever the issue that might rise can be tackled if you understand each other and willing to face that together. Now-a-days, people don’t see that value and going on with all the weird stuff that’s only breaking the family.

In a world where aliens, known as “Mecha-ude,” have merged with humans, resembling mechanized limbs, middle schooler Hikaru Amatsuga finds himself paired with a unique Mecha-ude named Arma. Tasked with protecting Arma, Aki Murasame, a dual Mecha-ude wielder from the resistance group ARMS, shadows Hikaru, while hunting a dangerous Snake-Type Mecha-ude responsible for harming many. Meanwhile, the sinister Kagami Group seeks the legendary “Trigger Arm” Mecha-ude for its immense power. Facing a threat against Aki, Hikaru and Arma must find the strength to resist, plunging Hikaru into a life far from ordinary.

This has a curious aspect that has me interested in this for a while. The mecha-arm aspect has a lot of potential to enact some cool fights and power-system. A pilot episode was aired in 2018 and the new anime is set for October this year.

Oscar is afflicted with a curse that kills any woman he marries. After clearing the challenge set by the Witch of the Azure Moon, he wishes her to be his wife. She refuses but offers to help to lift the curse. The witch holds many mysteries and an unknown history that will unfold as the story continue in a fantasy-romance setting.

Tucked away in Ginza’s hidden alleys lies Eden Hall, a unique bar managed by Ryuu Sasakura, a prodigious bartender known for mixing extraordinary cocktails. It’s said that Eden Hall chooses its patrons, rather than the other way around. People from various walks of life, each grappling with their own challenges, stumble upon this establishment. Yet, Ryuu always discerns the ideal cocktail to soothe and assist every troubled soul.

It’s kind of like The Ancient Magus’ Bride where a dude buys a slave to be his bride.

After an unfortunate death, Tomokui Kanata is reborn as the weakest goblin, Goburou. Retaining memories of his past life and undergoing an unusual evolution, he gains strength by consuming. In this world where only the strongest survive, he builds a team of capable allies and experiences amusing moments, like a tail-wagging dog.

Haruka Sakura shuns the weak and seeks only the strongest. Starting at Furin High School, renowned for its brawlers who defend the town, he’s uninterested in heroism or teamwork. His sole goal? To fight his way to the top! It’s almost like Tokyo Revengers with the same delinquent-martial art setting.

Here’s an obvious entry. The web manga has incredible art that’s waiting to be put into the anime. Well, it’s already finished airing and more seasons are coming. But it the anime feels though lacking its own artstyle compared to the web manga. Visual-wise, it’s amazing and the animation & fight scenes are done incredibly well. If you are still sleeping on Solo Leveling, then you don’t know anything anime.

When you hear studio Trigger is making an anime, you might be thinking it’s going to be another high-speed, action-packed, mecha, crazy anime. But not this time. They are making a cooking anime and its peak! The overall vibe, world building, detailed recipes make this a lively experience. It’s not just cooking, there’s also an end goal to it and characters with motivations that doesn’t make things pointless. It’s fiery cooking in the pits of hell.

This was announced back in 2022 and it finally surfaced this year. Already talked about it here. What else I can say about this is it uses its premise to the best and makes things interesting. The characters are intriguing to follow and the fights are amazing.

Demon Slayer swings back again this year with the next arc. A special was screened a while ago but it didn’t make it as a home release. This arc has been hyped up more than the others and we look forward to what it has to offer.

The lovable idiots are back for another season. This is a much-awaited sequel that took 5 years to come back as the movie was released in 2019. And man, I’ve been craving it for too long. The journey continues for Kazuma and his ragtag group of misfits to defeat the Demon King. But we know they are just taking a long detour.

Cozy, compfy camp is back for another season. This is a great show about camping and it feels peaceful to watch. The artstyle in the trailer doesn’t look like the previous seasons, probably due to the animation studio change from C-Station. But I hope they can make this feel cozy as well.

Boy, we have a banger on the table. One of the most anticipated anime is finally getting put on the screen. The manga garnered much praise to be one of the best shounen jump action anime and it would be epic to see them in anime format with the awesome animation. The characters are awesome, the plot is engaging, and the fights are well crafted. Let’s hope the anime does justice to this.

Spice and Wolf was almost forgotten by everyone except the true fans. Nobody expected or saw it coming that there will be a new Spice and Wolf anime. The studio may not be the best for this job, to handle a beloved classic anime. But from the trailer and one episode aired, it might be going to the right direction.

Finally, a proper anime adaptation of a western comic. There has been some anime from Marvel but forgettable mostly. DC here is going all out mixing their elements with an anime aspect, isekai. For those who don’t know, the term isekai is used for parallel world, mainly when a character is transported to another world, whether via a portal or reincarnation. Now, what’s gonna happen when you take the worst people in existence and put them in a fantasy world, that’s the recipe they are going with. The art is amazing and with Wit Studio on the helm, things are looking bright for Suicide Squad ISEKAI.

Re:Zero is coming back this year with more ways to torture the track suited protagonist. Rem is still out of commission and Emilia is doing Excalibur, the animation is looking great. We’ll see what holds ahead in this adventure.

Boy, we’ve been waiting for this for a while. This is another sequel that we never thought we would see. Essentially, it’s better Sword Art Online without its dumb sh*t. Hack, I don’t even want to associate GGO with SAO since its vastly different than that. The characters are well written and the plot is engaging. Wish they amp up the animation for this season.

Welp, the AOTY is decided. Only Kaiju No. 8 stand in the way. Dandadan is an insane combination of extraterrestrial and supernatural mayhem. The duo who has their own separate believes about which exists and which doesn’t gets tangled up in all the mayhem and an entire new level of craziness gets unleashed. The duo, Mono & Ken, their bizarre adventure begins in order to restore order and their normal lives.

DeDeDeDe manga has been in my backlog for a while. Didn’t get the chance to check it out but thankfully the anime is coming out in form of 2 films. It’s about two girls living their lives to the fullest during an alien invasion. Their nonchalant adventure leads them to unfolding many dark secrets about humanity instead of the alien invasion and learns many ugly truths.

The final arc approaches and the anime is responding in kind with Nekoma vs Karasuno. The animation looks epic as usual. The first movie is out already but the release date for the second one isn’t confirmed yet.

Edgy soccer is back; this time focusing on a particular character: Nagi. It’s great that smaller arcs are in movie format.

Code Geass is back with an original project. It’ll be released in 4 movies. Not sure how this connects to Lelouch‘s original story but we’re down for it.

From Tatsuki Fujimoto, the author of Chainsaw Man, comes the 143 paged one-shot manga Look Back, also known as Don’t Look Back in Anger. It’s getting an anime adaptation is like a festival. Honestly though, I still can’t think how Fujimoto’s work can be translated in anime when it always feels as though they are crafted to perfection just to be in the pages of a manga. But Fujimoto loves movies, so it may not be far-fetched from being on the screen. And I couldn’t ask for a better studio to do this project that is full of passionate people. It’s a must see this year.
