Thomas Conlin, a U.S. Marine in the Pacific Theatre of Operations, stationed aboard the USS Arizona during World War II. He arrives at Pearl Harbor early on the morning of December 7, 1941. As the planes begin the attack, he takes part in the defence by stopping the zero aircraft from attacking the battleships in the harbour. He then enters one of the damaged battleships, the USS West Virginia, to save it from capsizing and to rescue the wounded sailors.
After that, Conlin is then reassigned to the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion joins with his old bootcamp training mates which are Frank Minoso (squad leader and BAR gunner), Willy Gaines (rifle sharpshooter) and Jimmy Sullivan (corpsman), (Medal of Honor Pacific Assault is the first game the player can recover health by help of a medic) as they take part in the notorious Makin Island raid. During the raid, they are tasked with destroying a radio tower, destroying a supply dump, and rescuing a downed airman, before returning to their insertion point to fend off a Japanese counter-attack and defend their submarines from an aerial attack.
