Bucchigiri?! First Impressions & Review
Studio MAPPA‘s original anime Bucchigiri?! got quite the impression. It’s a mix bag of martial arts, delinquents, Arabian Nights, and typical anime BS. But it gets the job done which is entertaining people. It’s got unique styles & quirks that keeps the overall mood fun. The visuals are colorful and crisp which is honestly a double-edge sword for me. I like seeing colorful world but sometimes it becomes a bit saturated and make my eyes commit eye suicide. Sharp images always have the backlash that can look good momentarily, but it gets harder to look at for longer. But the show has some dark tones as well to balance this out at the mid-point climactic scene.
The characters in are also fun to follow through. The main character Arajin is a sore loser, dallies after a girl & gets manipulated by her, and a coward. His only goal is well… you’ve guessed it. He felt like this irredeemable character with nothing to like about. But that’s okay. A story where a broken character learns to redeem themselves is most interesting to say the least. And it’s not just the MC, all other characters are broken in some way and have issues. It’s nice to see them develop in their unique way. Not to mention how each of them stands out with their distinct design and personality. All in all, it’s is a good show and worth watching this season.
Conclusion
Although the anime is good, it still kind of bitter to see MAPPA not catching any break in any season. They’ve been making low to high budget anime nonstop and it’s saddening. On first impression, the show might seem good but overtime it takes a toll on the animators and the quality might lessens. So, who knows… hope they don’t drop the ball.
