First Impressions on Yuru Camp Season 3

A little too different

Yuru Camp Season 3 has finally started this spring after much anticipation. It was first announced during the 2022 Yuru Camp movie. It still brings the same vibe of coziness and fun time being out. But then again, something feels different considering the animation studio was changed from C-Station to Eight Bit along with a new directior.

The artstyle is more inline with the manga now while previously they adapted their own style to fit the anime. It looks a little off since we’re used to the previous one. The background as well that has a different art direction going on. But overall, the quality hasn’t diminished. It’s the same characters finding joy in camping and we get the joy of watching that in our busy tiresome lives.

Yuru Camp Season 3 – Opening & Ending

The opening & the ending themes are awesome and the songs are great. The songs are Laid Back Journey by Kimi No Ne and So Precious by Asaka respectively. The opening has computerized animation, probably the in its entirety. Traditionally it was a mix of CG and handdrawn characters with some special effects used to hype up the beginning. This time there’s no handdrawn art or atleast I couldn’t see any.

The ending however has handdrawn animation but shows some moments from the episode. Maybe it’s incomplete but I digress. Traditionally, the ED always has a calm vibe with similar lyrics, conveying the peacefulness in contrast to the hype-filled OP. But this ED has a little excitement with similarly vibed lyrics. I hope they bring Eri Sasaki back since her serene voice been part of Yuru Camp since the beginning; maybe for an insert song.

After Thought

Welp, this season got a little different but only on the surface. I couldn’t help but comparing it the previous seasons that we’re used to and hence that odd feeling. It’s going to be a fun, relaxing experience as always. Studio 8bit has done some great works before and hope they can capture the orignal magic that made Yuru Camp so loveable.
