Go Go Loser Ranger (stylized as Go! Go! Loser Ranger!) is a fresh new take on the Super Sentai aspect and turns it over its head. The Super Sentai, known as Power Rangers in the west, are the heroes who beat up monsters and save the day. We all have seen that somewhere and some of us grew up with watching that. Every week, some trouble arises and the heroes in muticolored costums show up, struggles a little, and then overcomes the evil. But what goes under the surface is truly something sinister.
Go Go Loser Ranger Plot
Thoughts on Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 1
Go Go Loser Ranger starts off from a dude’s perspective, being recruited into the Ranger Force. The surrounding is full of the Ranger advertizements, posters, etc. The whole economy, interest, entertainments, everything is taken up by the Ranger merchandises.
Every week, the monsters show themselves to the public and the heroes show up fashionibly late to save the day. The adults are basically guillible children who falls for same charade as well as the children. Or atleast some children gives a shout “You can do it” to the grunts who get beat up for the work they are doing while the adults are the toxic mob who despise everything about the “villains” or “monsters”. This “monster of the week” format continues until one grunt steps up. But the fact that this show has “loser” in the title, becomes apparant when the grunt is taken out without any effort from the rangers.
The grunt, called D, the dude in the beginning, goes undercover to join the ranger and uncover the truth. But even he can’t get far enough and it’s up to the rest who feel the same way, getting fed up where the grunts are forced to come up with a “monster of the week” formula every week. The show knows it’s a satire of the Super Sentai aspect we all know & grew out of and it depicts the dark, behind the scene aspect of it; kind of like Oshi no Ko, LoL.
The fact that the monsters get beaten in a one-sided fight every week is pretty sinister when we think about it. It’s practically slavery. Nobody considers their reason for being who they are or their motivation. The public is just thrilled to them getting destroyed. Which is the reason that the “antihero” progonists are so popular like Kratos from God of War, the Joker from Batman, Anton Chigurh from No Country for Old Men, and so on. Which is the reason Garou in One Punch Man decides to be a monster and fight against the heroes.

After Thought
Go Go Loser Ranger alludes to many things that can be thought provoking. The title itself is a parody to a classic Power Ranger theme. Some even say it’s like The Boys but I have yet to see the similarity. It’s definitely a satire or parody to the classic Super Sentai trope with a dark twist. The animation is great too if you want to review that aspect; as so the sound design. I can’t wait to see what it has in store for us.
